This shrimp appetizer is loaded with flavor. The toasted sesame seed oil really compliments the dish!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound jumbo or extra jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • Bacon sliced in half – approximately 12 slices

  • For sauce
  • 1/4 cup barbeque sauce

  • 3 Tablespoon soy sauce, preferably low sodium

  • 2 Tablespoon honey

  • 2 Tablespoon lemon juice

  • 3 teaspoon minced garlic

  • 1/4 teaspoon cracked pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon minced ginger

  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seed oil

Directions

  • Combine ingredients for sauce in small bowl. Season with salt if needed, depending on the type of soy sauce used.
  • Take 1/2 the sauce and place in shallow bowl. Add shrimp and marinate for 10 minutes.
  • Wrap 1/2 slice of bacon around each shrimp.
  • Place wrapped shrimp on baking sheet and broil shrimp until shrimp is cooked and bacon crisp, turning 1/2 way through. Takes approximately 8 minutes.
  • Place shrimp on a serving dish and drizzle with the unused sauce. Place any additional sauce in a bowl and serve with the shrimp.

Notes

  • I like to make my own barbeque sauce, see recipe under the “Other” category. However, as a time saver, use regular purchased barbeque sauce.
