This is a fun appetizer for everyone that loves oysters. You definitely get the taste of each of the layers with a nice kick of horseradish at the end. We had these at one of our favorite restaurants in OBX and have come close to replicating the same flavors!

Ingredients

  • 4 fresh oysters in the shell – shucked

  • 1 tablespoon horseradish

  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice

  • 1/2 tablespoon honey

  • 1/2 cucumber, skin on, seeds removed

  • juice of 1/2 lime

  • Bloody Mary mix

  • Vodka

  • Old Bay Seasoning

Directions

  • Rub lime over top of each shot glass and dip in Old Bay seasoning.
  • Combine horseradish, honey and lemon. Add 1 teaspoon mixture to each shot glass.
  • Add a raw oyster to each shot glass.
  • Puree together cucumber, lime juice and salt to taste. Add about 1 to 2 Tablespoon to each shot glass.
  • Add 1 to 2 Tablespoon Bloody Mary mix to glass being careful to keep each layer separated.
  • Top with a small amount of Vodka.

Notes

  • To help keep the cucumber and Bloody Mary mix separated, pour each into a spoon held over the shot glass so it goes into shot glass like a fountain.
