Bacon Wrapped Sausage Appetizer

These are a favorite appetizer! Go ahead and double the recipe and store the extra in the freezer for surprise guests or when you don’t have time to cook. They will go straight from the freezer to the oven!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth or water

  • 1 1/2 cup herb seasoned stuffing mix

  • 1/2 pound bulk pork sausage

  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 12 slices bacon cut in half

Directions

  • Heat butter and broth/water until butter has melted.
  • Place stuffing mix in bowl and add heated butter mixture. Stir until combined.
  • Add in parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes. Add in sausage and egg.
  • Mix until sausage is well blended with the stuffing mixture.
  • Use about 1 Tbsp of mixture and wrap 1/2 slice of bacon so ends overlap. Option to secure with a toothpick.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Use a baking pan/cooling rack combination. Place appetziers on the rack to bake.
  • Bake for 40 minutes, turning half way through until bacon is cooked and golden.
  • For a sweeter version, brush with honey 5 minutes before they are done.
