minutesGreat BBQ recipe for a crowd! The recipe uses a beef roast vs ground beef. A nice chuck roast works well with this recipe as it tends to leave you with a nice tender and juicy BBQ! You can make this ahead and then reheat in a crockpot to keep it warm.
Ingredients
5-6 pound roast – chuck or sirloin
2 Tablespoon oil
1 large onion – chopped
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 cloves garlic whole
14 ounces of ketchup
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 cup vinegar
2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
1/2 teaspoon Ascent
2 Tablespoon brown sugar
Directions
- Heat a Dutch oven on stove top on high heat. When the pan is hot, add oil. Sear all sides of the roast to a nice brown color.
- Combine remaining ingredients and add to pot. Bring to a soft boil.
- Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 5 hours.
- Remove beef from pot and shred meat. Since the roast will most likely be a thick cut of beef, you can chop the shredded meat in half length to make it easier to eat. Return meat to pot with liquids and stir until all combined.
- Season with additional salt and pepper if needed.
Notes
- You can also serve this BBQ over Cheesy Grits and top with shredded cheese!
