Ingredients
10 tablespoon softened butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 large egg, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg – I love grating fresh whole nutmeg
1/2 cup apple cider
6 tablespoons of butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Beat together 10 tablespoons butter, brown sugar and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy, approximately 3 minutes. Then add the one egg at a time mixing until incorporated. Add in vanilla. Make sure to scrape the bowl.
- Whisk together the baking powder, salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg and flour. On a low speed add in flour mixture until incorporated. Add apple cider until homogenous.
- Spray doughnut pan with nonstick spray. Fill each with batter until 2/3 full. You can use a piping bag or 2 spoons to fill each cup.
- Bake the donuts for 12 to 15 minutes or until toothpick tester comes out clean.
- Let cool in pan for 5 minutes.
- Turn out doughnuts onto a cooling rack.
- Melt the 6 tablespoons of butter. In a separate bowl mix the 1/2 cup of sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Brush the doughnut with butter then dip in the cinnamon/sugar mixture until outside is coated.
Notes
- I tend to store these donuts in a small paper bag and then place the paper bag in a plastic bag if I have any to save for the next day.
