About

I’m Karen. I love to cook and especially if I am cooking for other people. Thus my husband tells me I “Make Friends Through Food.” During this pandemic I have spent many hours in my kitchen refining my skills and working on my food presentation. I am excited to start this blog to share my recipes with family and friends.

So there is a story for selecting the name “Anything But Lima Beans”. Being one of eight in my family, we were required to finish all of our food before we could leave the dining room table. My least favorite food was lima beans. Fortunately, my sister loved lima beans and willingly accepted my beans which I quickly slipped onto her plate when my parents would leave the room.

I suppose their choice of having us eat everything on our plate forced the issue of trying different foods. The house rule for our children was they had to at least take one bite and if they didn’t like it, the trash can was in the other room. With that approach, they were willing to try everything placed in front of them knowing they didn’t have to finish what was on their plate.

Of course the one food I rarely serve is Lima Beans! Maybe some day I will learn to at least be willing to eat lima beans in small amounts. In the meantime, they have proven to be great caricatures for the blog!

One final note, “Anything But Lima Beans” is a young blog and is still evolving! I hope you enjoy this blogging journey with me as I see how far I can develop this site!!
